Trust & Verification

Building Trust In Property Transactions

MN Luxe Home verifies the people and the properties behind every listing — agents, agencies, identities and the homes themselves — so renting, buying or booking stops being a leap of faith. Every badge you see is earned, never bought.

Why verification matters

The property market runs on trust that is too often abused. Fake listings advertise homes that do not exist or are not for rent. Fraudsters impersonate real agents, lift photos from genuine adverts, and duplicate the same flat across a dozen accounts to harvest deposits. Many victims only discover the truth after they have paid an "inspection fee" or "agreement fee" into an account they can never trace.

The most damaging scams happen off-platform: a smooth talker pushes you to pay by bank transfer before you have seen anything verifiable, or arranges a "ghost viewing" for a property they have no right to let. Once the money moves, the listing vanishes and so does the contact.

Verification attacks each of these directly. Identity and agent checks stop impersonation. Listing verification — ownership documents, a GPS walkthrough and duplicate-photo screening — kills fake and stolen listings before they reach you. And by keeping enquiries, agreements and supported payments on-platform, we remove the dark corners where transfer scams thrive. The result is fewer surprises, real accountability, and a clear paper trail if something goes wrong.

Verification types

Five independent checks, each answering a different question — who you are dealing with, and whether the property is real.

Agent Verification

What we check: We confirm a government-issued ID, a live selfie matched to that ID, and a working phone number and email.

What it proves: You are speaking to a real, contactable person — not an anonymous account or an impersonator using a stolen name.

Agency Verification

What we check: We review CAC registration, company directors, office address, and the authority of the staff who post on the agency's behalf.

What it proves: The brand behind the listing is a registered Nigerian business that stands behind its agents and its inventory.

Identity Verification

What we check: We match a valid ID (NIN, driver's licence, voter's card or passport) against a live liveness check to defeat photo and deepfake spoofing.

What it proves: The human on the other end of the conversation is exactly who their profile claims to be.

Listing Verification

What we check: We review ownership or letting authorisation, GPS coordinates captured during an in-app walkthrough, and a walkthrough video — and we screen photos for duplicates and stolen images.

What it proves: The property is real, sits at the stated address, is genuinely available, and the person listing it is authorised to do so.

Business Verification

What we check: For developers and corporate landlords we verify CAC documents, tax identification, and the signatory authorising the listings.

What it proves: Large portfolios and off-plan developments come from a legally accountable entity, not a one-off impersonator.

Verification badges

When a check passes, a badge appears on the listing or profile. Here is exactly what each one guarantees — and what it does not.

Verified Agent
The agent's identity and contact details have passed our checks. You are dealing with a named, contactable individual.
Verified Agency
A CAC-registered company has been confirmed and is accountable for the agents and listings published under its name.
Identity Verified
A government ID has been matched to a live liveness check, defeating stolen-identity and impersonation attempts.
Verified Listing
Ownership or letting authority, location, and media for this specific property have been reviewed and confirmed genuine.
Inspected
Our team or a trusted partner physically visited the property and signed off on the listing on a recorded date.

A badge confirms what we checked and when — it is not a guarantee of legal title or a substitute for your own due diligence. Read the full verification policy.

Fraud prevention

Verification is the front door. Behind it, four layers work continuously to keep bad actors out.

Monitoring

Automated signals flag duplicate photos, recycled descriptions, mismatched locations and sudden behaviour changes across the marketplace, day and night.

Reporting

Every listing and profile carries a Report button. User reports are triaged fast and can suspend a listing within minutes while we investigate.

Manual reviews

Our Trust & Safety team reviews flagged accounts, documents and high-value listings by hand — no listing is verified by an algorithm alone.

Risk analysis

We score accounts on device, payment and behavioural signals, freeze suspicious payouts, and escalate confirmed fraud to a permanent ban and law enforcement.

Community protection

Report a listing in seconds

Every property page has a Report listing button. If a price looks too good to be true, an agent pushes you off-platform, or photos appear elsewhere, flag it. Our Trust & Safety team reviews each report and can suspend a listing within minutes while we investigate.

Talk to a human

Not sure if something is right? Contact our support team before you pay a kobo. We will confirm whether an agent and listing are genuine and walk you through safe next steps.

Frequently asked questions

Does a Verified badge guarantee the property has clean legal title?

No. Verification confirms the agent's identity, that the listing matches a real property at the stated location, and that the photos and ownership or authorisation documents we were shown are genuine. It is not a title search and not legal advice — always run your own due diligence and engage a solicitor before paying for or transferring any property. Our full Trust & Safety position is set out in the verification policy.

How long does verification take?

Identity and agent checks are usually reviewed within 24-48 hours. Listing verification — which can involve a GPS walkthrough, document review, and sometimes a physical inspection — typically completes within 2-5 working days, depending on how quickly documents are supplied and whether an inspection is scheduled.

Is verification free, and is it required to list?

Most listings can go live once our moderation team approves them, with or without full verification. We may require verification for certain plans, for very high-value properties, or when automated risk signals warrant it. Standard identity and agent verification is included; physical inspections on premium tiers may carry a fee, which is shown up-front.

What should I do if a listing or agent looks fraudulent?

Use the Report listing button on any property page, or contact our support team directly. Reports are triaged by our Trust & Safety team, the listing can be suspended within minutes while we investigate, and confirmed fraud leads to a permanent ban and, where appropriate, referral to law enforcement.
